“Katsirak”

Having no formal instructions in art, Dante Enage was not daunted in carving his own niche in the art world. Through sheer talent, determination and experimentations with different medium, there is no doubt that he has now risen from the obscurity of the mundane to the artist that he is known today.

The artist will be unleashing the fruits of his artistry and creativity through his second one-man, month long exhibit entitled “Katsirak” which opens on his birthday, April 8,2012 at Cafe Lucia, Rotary Center, Real St., Sagkahan, Tacloban City at 5:30 in the evening.

“Katsirak”, the warm summer days, has always conjured happy memories for all of us. It reverberate the artist’s hopes and dreams after the monsoons, bathing us all with the positivity of the warm sunshine. As such, a sun consistently greets us in every art piece in this exhibit. Each ray tries to evoke our curiosity and fancy.

The exhibit features his recent mixed media assemblage. Circuit boards, screws, junk metal, sand, broken toys and a melange of other found objects are mounted on ply wood and painted with oil and acrylic to create his own otherworldly interpretation of junk art. It is difficult to fathom how much thoughtful consideration really went into this collection. It is truly a testament to Dante Enage’s personal advocacy and struggle of reducing, reusing, recycling and creating beauty out of rubbish.
